NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory watches giant plumes of hot gas.
Two
solar prominences, or solar storms, were seen leaping from the face of
the Sun by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. The two giant streams of
charged gas (upper left), each far wider than the Earth, were pulled
together by the Sun's powerful magnetic forces. (Steele Hill/SDO/NASA)
